Chaudhary Raghvendra Singh founded DLF in 1946 during pre-independent India. A natural entrepreneur, he began his journey in real estate by reshaping Delhi’s National Capital Region, providing housing for numerous families displaced by Partition.
Born on September 19, 1910, Chaudhary Saheb graduated from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi, before joining the Indian Army. Rising to the rank of Major, he earned an MBE for his distinguished service.
Beyond his business accomplishments, Chaudhary Saheb was a philanthropist with a deep commitment to social causes. He served as a Board Member for numerous charitable organizations and educational institutions, advocated for welfare reforms for ex-servicemen, and contributed significantly to humanitarian efforts. Recognized as a pioneer of Delhi’s cooperative movement and a trailblazer in the Indian real estate sector, his legacy remains an inspiration.
Chaudhary Saheb’s passing on June 13, 2000, marked the conclusion of an era that began with India’s struggle for freedom. His vision continues to guide DLF’s journey of shaping modern India.
